FuturEnergia to strengthen its impact in school and society in 2008-2009

PlasticsEurope and European Schoolnet are delighted to announce that the third year of the Energy is our Future (FuturEnergia) school programme will start in September 2008. The school programme will continue to strengthen, enhance and support energy education across the curriculum in schools by raising awareness on how energy consumption may affect climate change and how advanced materials help save energy.

The current website will be re-structured and re-launched in mid-September 2008 following the awards ceremony for the school year 2007-2008. The ceremony is organised at the European Parliament in Brussels.

The third year of FuturEnergia will retain many of the successful elements used in the past two years. The programme will provide a set of online classroom activities and competitions that are available to students aged between 10-20 in the EU Member States, Candidate and EFTA countries.

As the programme promotes science teaching opportunities in a cross-curricular manner, teachers will be encouraged to download comprehensive guidelines and supporting materials to enhance their activities in classroom.

The programme team encourages teachers to add FuturEnergia to their school calendar 2008-2009. This would enable students to experience and enjoy the programme activities that are designed to make a valuable contribution to increasing science teaching impact in school and society.
